Buyer beware!!!

Just a word of warning for people wanting to buy Milwaukee products from auction sites. Milwaukee products have serial numbers that are unique to genuine Australian imports, i.e. Those tools provided by authorised Techtronic Industries distributors. Imported tools from overseas will not be covered by Australian warranty. I believe the same may apply to Paslode tools as these are also serial numbered and cross referenced.

In particular, 120v power supplies or battery chargers with transformers supplied are a dead giveaway. Australia is 240v 50 Hz. These tools are not approved for sale in Australia and do not carry the certification number or "Tick" from the approving states Dept of Industry or Dept of Fair Trading. You may be opening yourself up to extreme danger from fire or electrocution!!

Portable inverter welders, inverters, battery chargers all have to be approved for sale. No number no sale. But check out the Dept. of Fair Trading web site in NSW or your state for detailed info.

I have compared prices on auction sites to wholesale pricing and in no way would any dealer sell at less than cost price. This appears to be the norm on the sites I checked. So just beware, if you do purchase products and tools online, a simple phone call to Tectronic Industries for Milwaukee, Aeg and Ryobi, will be able to tell you if the dealer is an authorised Australian distributor. Techtronic Industries customer service number is 1300361505.

An interesting point in regard to warranties, Milwaukee V18 and V28 lithium ion batteries have a memory chip installed that records the date of the first charge, how many times the battery has been charged, the maximum internal temperature the battery has reached and the charge of each cell. This way, the service centres can tell how old a battery really is by when it was first charged.

I recently had a battery in for warranty that had an internal temperature reading in excess of 167C or 332F and had been charged only 60 times.

Reliability issues are common with Paslode Impulse Tools.
They require constant attention, and are very sensitive to gas and cleanliness.
Remember to keep them clean and lubricated and always check your gas before presenting for repair.
Ensure your battery is charged and there are no jammed or incorrect nails in the magazine.
